This is a lovely vintage cocktail dress from the 1950's from designer Ceil Chapman. It is made from a heavy black taffeta that has been pin tucked to create a chevron like design giving a unique texture to the fabric. It has a fitted bodice, drop waist and a full skirt, lined in black silk. The metal zipper is on the left side.
